As part of major conservation and refurbishments works at The Town Hall, the best example of Victorian Gothic Architecture in the UK with over 4,000m2 of marble mosaic works, we have been carrying out ‘market testing’ to establish a suitable specification and methodology for this very exciting project.
Currently working at All Saints Church, Calverton installing new tiling using limecrete screed and lime-based mortars. In-situ repairs, thorough sympathetic clean and hope to complete finishing treatment by mid November.
Blues Kitchen Manchester installed, looks fantastic. New venue due to open in the New Year with amazing interior detailing similar to other Blues Kitchen (Columbo Group ) venues in London.
Halloughton Church, Nottinghamshire. The reconstruction and installation of detached and missing decorative panels either side of Altar. Some of the tesserae smalledmthan matchsticks, each hand cut and gilded.
Symington Building, Market Harborough.
Vulnerable and badly damaged original Minton tessellated mosaic conserved and recreated. Two months work, now restored to its former glory.
We finished yesterday, the exposing, consolidating and cleaning of a stunning marble mosaic at the entrance of the Coliseum (ENO), London.
The mosaic design is beautiful, fantastic proportions with fine cut-work. We can learn a lot from the Victorians and Edwardians.
